Eat the damn Easter Eggs!

As women, we are our own harshest critics. Day in, day out, I witness women ripping themselves apart mentally and emotionally, while on this never ending cycle of striving for perfection with their fitness and nutrition and then beating themselves up for “failing” when they fall off track….Here’s the truth: ‘Perfection’ is impossible, perfection does not exist, no one is perfect 100% of the time (even all of your Instagram or Facebook celebrity inspirations), and who the hell decided what ‘perfect’ was in the first place!

What does chasing perfection do?

We say to ourselves things like “OK, From Monday, I am going to eat REALLY healthy – NO more chocolate”… Monday begins, life happens, maybe even SHIT happens – we hear bad news, we are busy/tired/stressed/premenstrual….there’s chocolate in the house, and we eat it… Our subconscious mind kicks in with “You failed”, “Your hopeless”, “You can’t even follow your ‘diet’ for one week”….You begin to hate yourself…so what makes you feel better? More chocolate…
Here comes the subconscious mind again… “Oh well, you F***Ked it now….what’s the point, may as well eat ALL the food and start again next week”…. Sound familiar?
If I am being honest with you, almost 90% of women that I have had consultations with (and this is into the hundreds now), have ALL experienced this viscous cycle…either with food, fitness or both…The cycle of chasing something unattainable only leaves you feeling dissatisfied, so you self-harm with negative thoughts or poor lifestyle/food choices.
What can you do: Be Realistic, Reduce the Pressure, TREAT yourself once in a while! Depriving yourself only ever leads to over indulging, eventually.
Instead of NO chocolate, what about simply trying LESS chocolate?
Or instead of exercising 7 DAYS A WEEK, why don’t you start with 3 times a week? The more achievable your goals are, the more likely you are to stay on track, and instead of swinging in the extremes of on track / off track you will have a sustainable and consistent journey.
So with Easter upon us, I am saying to you “EAT THE DAMN EASTER EGGS” it’s once a year, buy a few, eat them without over indulging, fricken ENJOY it and then MOVE ON! don’t tell yourself that you wont have ANY chocolate, or a hot cross bun…because more than likely you will, and THAT’S OK! What isn’t ok is beating yourself up afterwards.
Peace beautiful humans xx

Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Combined with physical activity, your diet can help you to reach and maintain a healthy weight, reduce your risk of chronic diseases (like heart disease and cancer), and promote your overall health.

I guess, reaching goals is not about gender. As long as you are determined to do everything for your dreams, then it will come true one day. But most of the time, women are really determined when it comes to reaching their goals. No matter how hard may it be, they will always be willing to take extra mile for something they really want to have. Well, all of us must possess that attitude; we should always be willing to do whatever it takes just to reach our dreams!
