I am a big fan of sprouting all kinds of seeds, lentils, chickpeas - anything! It is such a great way to get a major boost of nutrients into your diet, keeping you super alkaline, as well as aiding your digestion. If you think about it, the sprout is packed with all of the goodness to be able to flourish into an entire plant, so of course it packs a hefty nutrient load.
In fact, the sprout can contain from 10-100 times the levels of certain compounds or nutrients than a mature plant.
In regards to broccoli seed sprouts: eating just 28 grams of sprouts gives you as much Sulforaphane (anti-cancer) than as if you were to eat 225 grams of mature broccoli!! So you can see just how easy to boost your nutrient levels with regular consumption of sprouts of any description.
I have added a 'How-To' picture below, but it is a simple process of soaking your seeds in a glass jar for 8-12 hours, draining the water and placing muslin cloth or netting over the top and leaving the jar on a window sill. Rinsing 2-3 times daily until they sprout. Approx 4 days.
Get sprouting gang! xx
